Porting / transferring existing numbers to CircleLoop

If you're thinking of porting (transferring) a number to CircleLoop, it's best to get in touch with us first so that we can check if the number can be moved from your current provider.  We've got agreements in place with most UK providers but it's possible that we won't be able to port your number.

What numbers can we port?

We can port most 01 or 02 numbers for UK towns and cities.

We can port mobile numbers from all the UK major network providers.

We can port some UK national 03 and 08 numbers from the following providers- Gamma, Magrathea, Vodafone, Virgin, AQL, and TalkTalk.

We're sorry but we can't port any UK Freephone or 09 numbers.

Porting landline numbers

It's best to get in touch with us first so that we can check that we're able to port your number.  Once we've verified this then we'll send you a form which you can complete and sign online.  This form gives us the authority to contact your current provider to request that they release your number to us.

How long does it take to port a landline number

Unfortunately, the process is quite complicated and can often be problematic due to the manual nature of the process throughout the UK telecoms industry.  It can take anything from a week to a month for a landline number to port successfully.

Porting landline numbers to CircleLoop is free.

Porting mobile numbers

If you're porting a mobile number then all you need to do is contact your current provider and request a PAC.  Your provider should be able to give you this code straight away on the phone.

It's very important that you don't cancel your agreement with your existing mobile provider at this point.

Once you've got your PAC then get in touch with us to tell us the PAC.  This is all we'll need to transfer your number.

How long does it take to port a mobile number?

Porting a mobile number is very simple and straight-forward and will take between 1 and 2 business days.  Once the port has completed then your contract with your old provider will automatically be cancelled.  If you don't hear back from your provider after the port has completed then we recommend you contact them directly to discuss your account.

Important points to consider

Landline Numbers

When you transfer your landline number, if you choose to port your main billing number to CircleLoop, your existing line will cease on the day of the transfer. If that line also had a broadband service with it, that service will also cease. Please plan carefully! You may need to consider installing a new broadband service before porting your number.

Don’t cancel the contract with your current provider until the number has successfully transferred. If you cancel prior to the transfer being confirmed, you may lose the number.  Once the port has completed it will be your responsibility to contact your old provider to make sure you've cancelled the services that you no longer require with them.

Mobile Numbers

When you transfer your mobile number to CircleLoop your existing mobile service (including data connection) will cease on the day of the transfer.  Remember that you will need a mobile data connection if you want to use CircleLoop without a WiFi connection so we'd recommend you obtaining a SIM only plan from a UK network provider.

If you intend to continue using your mobile phone for personal use, you will need to make arrangements to obtain a replacement SIM card to provide a new mobile number for your handset.

Porting your numbers away from CircleLoop

We hope it doesn't come to this, but if you do ever decide to leave CircleLoop, then you're able to port your numbers to another provider free of charge.  You'll need to first make sure that your new provider can port in the number.  We have 2-way agreements in-place with most major UK providers but we can't guarantee that your new provider will be able to take your numbers.

What if my current provider isn't listed?

We're working on extending the range of providers we can port numbers from in the near future.  If you're number isn't with one of the listed companies, then don't worry, just get in touch with our support team and we may still be able to hep you.

One other point to mention is that your current provider may have delegated porting to different provider.  Telecoms providers often do this to extend the range of companies that they can port numbers from.  To determine this, you'll need to contact your current provider and ask them the following question.  Once they've got back to you then just get in touch with our support team with their response, and we'll do whatever we can to help.

"Do you handle porting yourselves or if not have you delegated porting for my number to another provider - and if so, which provider?"
